Description

Stitched using 28 different shades of filament silks onto a piece of ivory silk taffeta fabric, the iconic Ulysses butterfly shimmers and glistens in the light hovering over the showy flower clusters of the Ixora plant. Stitched predominantly using traditional Random Blending Stitch this design is based on an oil painting by Australian artist Adrian McGlusky.

SPECIAL NOTE | Instructions for this project are included in the book ‘The Art of Chinese Embroidery 2 | Intermediate Level’, however some prior knowledge is assumed based on techniques presented in ‘The Art of Chinese Embroidery 1 | Foundation Level’, therefore depending on your familiarity with Chinese Embroidery, both books may be required for reference.
