More about this digital file
Description
Eye-catching in its dazzling, bright blue breeding plumage, the male superb fairy wren (malurus cyaneus) performs an elaborate courting dance to impress the less colourful female.
Small in stature and with a distinctive upright tail, this popular little bird is a familiar sight across south-eastern Australia and is captured here in Trish’s unique whitework with colour technique.
Worked with stranded cotton onto fine white linen, his striking colouring forms a wonderful contrast to the soft white petals of the accompanying flowers.
