Description
"The project is based on a contemporary reproduction of an 18th century Gentleman's waistcoat, seen in a local museum several years ago. It was featured on page 14 of Inspirations issue 60.
The quilting design used includes the main flower and leaf patterns which occur in the original textile (made in white linen) and can be worked in any colour to blend or contrast with the curtains they adorn.
The flower and leaf patterns have been hand drawn, as would have been done in the 18th century, so are not as precise as those we are accustomed to today. This has the effect of giving the overall design a certain naive look of great charm.
I have also used a colonial knot (instead of a French knot) which is beloved of candlewickers and gives texture by using a thicker thread." - Jacquie Harvey
