Description

This piece, inspired by a photograph, was stitched by Jacqueline Poirier of France. As part of the design process, it was decided that the background would be embroidered to enrich the image and enhance the elegance of the flower. Oiseau de Paradis is stitched with a combination of Random Stitch Embroidery and traditional Chinese Embroidery techniques.

SPECIAL NOTE | Instructions for this project are included in the book ‘The Art of Chinese Embroidery 2 | Intermediate Level’, however some prior knowledge is assumed based on techniques presented in ‘The Art of Chinese Embroidery 1 | Foundation Level’, therefore depending on your familiarity with Chinese Embroidery, both books may be required for reference.
