Description
Bamboo is one of the most common subjects in traditional Chinese art.
Bamboo makes up one of the ‘Four Gentlemen’ (the seasons of the year) in Chinese culture, representing summer.
It also represents a person of virtue and steadfastness with the ability to face adversity, and has been popularised by poets and scholars in China’s past to symbolise simplicity and humility.
