Description
The Leucadendron, or conebush, is part of the Proteaceae family and is endemic to South Africa.
Valued as a cut flower for its vividly coloured bracts and long vase life, it makes a striking subject for this unusual embroidery.
Worked onto organza with silk threads, the central cone and two bracts are worked separately over printed paper to add further dimension.
The piece is finished in the frame it is worked on and a ceramic tile adds interest to the background.
