Description

The embroidery depicts a Eurasian red squirrel sitting on a moss-covered tree stump. The tree stump on which he sits provides an interesting study and provides a challenge in recreating the colours and textures. Stitched using over 40 different shades of filament silks onto a piece of ivory silk taffeta fabric, this design is based on a photograph by Vince Burton, used under license.

SPECIAL NOTE | Instructions for this project are included in the book ‘The Art of Chinese Embroidery 2 | Intermediate Level’, however some prior knowledge is assumed based on techniques presented in ‘The Art of Chinese Embroidery 1 | Foundation Level’, therefore depending on your familiarity with Chinese Embroidery, both books may be required for reference.
