Description
Spectacular in size but subtle in colouring, the Helena gum moth (Opodiphthera Helena) can grow up to 180mm (7") in diameter. Found along the eastern coast of Australia, this extraordinary moth feeds and lays its eggs on a variety of eucalyptus species.
Surrounded by a stylish tracery of gum leaves, this charming hooped embroidery depicts this wonderful member of the Lepidoptera order, worked with stranded cotton threads and complete with striking wing spots and feathery antennae.
