Description
Popular designs used in Elizabethan embroidery were often inspired by images found in needlework pattern books, herbals, and natural history texts, reflecting the Elizabethan love of nature and opulent decoration.
Designed for use by domestic and professional stitchers, these charming, often stylised, figures have been used to decorate this delightful needlebook and scissor fob.
A splendid butterfly is worked onto the front and back of the cover, its wings filled with smaller motifs and surrounded by a golden lattice, while the fob features flowers and thistles.
