More about this digital file
Description
The Victoria crowned pigeon (Goura victoria), is one of a small group of ground-dwelling pigeons that are native to New Guinea and features a magnificent, white-tipped crest.
Depicted here resting on a New South Wales Christmas bush (ceratopetalum gummiferum), its rich maroon breast coordinates beautifully with the vibrant red of the flower sepals.
Worked with silk floss and stranded cotton, the wonderful colours glow against the stark black background, bringing both bird and flowers to life.
