Description
A member of the powerful, Italian Medici family and a 16th century Queen of France, Catherine de’ Medici took her love of embroidery with her to her new home and introduced her favourite techniques to the French court.
Elegant and easy to work, Catherine de’ Medici embroidery, or punto madama, uses the simplicity of running stitch to create stylish designs.
Worked onto a natural, open-weave linen with thick cotton thread, this beautiful mat is edged with double back stitch and finished with a knotted tassel at each corner.
