What Are You Stitching?

Liz Shanks
‘I want to thank Jenny McWhinney for the inspiration of Warm Embrace in Inspirations issue 52.’
‘Our new little grandson (Toby wolf) will be the recipient of this labour of love.’
What a special gift for a special new grandson, Liz. We love the patterned blanketing you have used to make the project your own. Lovely!
Pam Foale
‘Here is a quilted embroidery featuring one of Tasmania's critically endangered Swift Parrots. The design is inspired by a photograph from a beautiful book I purchased at the Takayna Exhibition in Hobart.’
‘It is so sad that this species is threatened with extinction within the next decade. I loved the experience of embroidering the bird because it felt close to holding it.’
Pam, this is moving tribute to a beautiful bird. You have captured the beauty of the Swift Parrot with your quiet act of preservation and love. Thank you for sharing both your superbly embroidered piece and its story.
Karen Fraser
‘Just finished Trish Burr's Fly me to the Moon threadpainted project featured in Inspiration issue 125. It was a wonderful challenge.’
Karen, Trish Burr’s designs are always equal parts beautiful and intricate so we can imagine both the joy and challenge it was to stitch. You’ve done an amazing job, looks like it came straight out of the magazine!
Have you been inspired by Jenny McWhinney? Do feel ‘close’ to the subjects you stitch? Or have you embarked on a stitching challenge?
Whatever you are stitching, we’d love to see it! Email photos of what you’ve created with needle and thread along with a few details about your stitching journey to news@inspirationsstudios.com
