What Are You Stitching?

Winifred Halsey

‘Thank you so much for being an inspiring source of beautiful embroidery.’

‘This is my finished peacock by Deborah Wilding that I stitched after attending The World Needlework Convention. I changed it a little bit, but the pattern was fabulous.’

Thank you for your kind words, Winifred – we truly appreciate you being a part of the Inspirations family! Your peacock is beautiful and we’re so glad you enjoyed Deborah’s pattern. Well done!

Helen Johnson

‘My most recent piece is ‘Papyrus Bundle’ from a frieze on an Egyptian Mastaba. The original rendering was done by one of my sons who is an Egyptian scholar.’

‘I was able to get some very tiny passing thread from Fred Kreinik; I had never seen anything like it - from Paris and 2% gold. So, the whole project revolved around that tiny thread. Everything else had to be very delicate.’

‘It is on silk, the pearls are 1mm freshwater pearls, the cording is made of Chinese flat silk and metallic threads and the ‘stems’ are with Chinese flat silk worked like ‘long and short’ but vertically instead of horizontally so the shading will go from side to side instead of top to bottom.’

What a lovely creation, Helen and such a unique source of inspiration. We love that you could collaborate with your son and the materials you have used sound divine. Thank you so much for sharing the process behind your stitches.

Carmel Schulze

We received this lovely email from Robyne sent in on behalf of Carmel:

‘This work is embroidered by Carmel Schulze, who is a member of the Geelong Branch of The Embroiderers’ Guild, Victoria (Australia).’

‘Carmel worked the spectacular Balthazar from Inspirations magazine issue #116.’

Thank you for sharing Carmel’s beautiful stitching, Robyne, her Balthazar beetle is fabulous. Carmel has done a wonderful job re-creating all the delicate elements that make this project so stunning and she is a very talented stitcher indeed.

Have you attended a conference? Have you collaborated on a project with a loved one? Or is someone you know stitching up a storm that you think we should see (with their permission of-course!)?

Whatever you are stitching, we’d love to see it! Email photos of what you’ve created with needle and thread along with a few details about your stitching journey to news@inspirationsstudios.com
