What Are You Stitching?

‘This is my picture of Reggie as a puppy. He lives with my son and his family. It was first painted with watercolours then stitched.’

‘The picture is hanging near my front door to welcome visitors.’

Lucy, what a lovey face to greet your visitors. Your stitching has captured the sweet nature of the puppy and we’re sure he will bring many a smile to the faces of all who visit as he welcomes everyone in.

Cherry Lo

‘I am doing the Royal School of Needlework diploma and have recently finished my Appliqué, ‘The Happy Prince’.’

‘This is the first time I worked an Appliqué and at the beginning I was really unsure how to start given the vast number of materials and techniques that one could use!’

22.jpg

‘However, as it progressed, my love for the project could only grow. By the time it was finished, I was actually half sad half excited!’

‘One of my favourite parts of the piece is the detachable both-sides-alike swallow. A few magnets were sewn inside its body, corresponding to those beneath the houses on the main piece. One could put it on and take it off easily to enjoy two different looks of the design!’

What an extraordinary achievement, Cherry! The Happy Prince is a true testament to your creativity and passion, and we love that you embraced the challenge of navigating the materials and techniques. The thoughtfulness of adding the detachable swallow is simply lovely. Well done.

Roma Crowhurst

‘For years I have wanted to make one of Taetia McEwan’s lampshades but lacked confidence in myself. But with the hopes of great-grandchildren in the next few years I took a deep breath, and this was the result.’

‘The shade was put together by Laura at Amore Lampshades. I’m so pleased with the end result and I have now started on my second.’

Roma, your lampshade is beautiful. This is such a heartwarming way to honour both your future generations but also your talent. It’s clear the lamp has been made with love and care and we’re thrilled to hear you’re on to stitching the next one.

Have you stitched one of your pets? Do you enjoy appliqué? Or have you taken on a new embroidery challenge?
