Strawberry Feast by Anna Scott
6TH SEPTEMBER 2024 - ASU #443
Here’s a cute one for you…
Strawberry Feast by Anna Scott from Inspirations magazine issue #123 is all about sweet summer berries in garnet and antique red, hanging invitingly in a delightful study of a strawberry plant, complete with visiting garden friends.
Twining stems culminate in clusters of pretty, white flowers with some worked on the surface and others added as detached elements.
Large leaves, filled with fly stitch in varying shades of green contrast with the vibrant red of the fruit.
The gorgeous stumpwork strawberry plant itself has a bounty of fruit just waiting to be picked, with a variety of different patterns and stitches used to fill the plump berries, adding depth and interest.
This project is indeed a feast!
For the stitcher, Anna has chosen an engaging selection of 24 different stitches and a delightful mix of over 20 different threads. You’ll be using stranded silks including Au Ver à Soie, Soie d’Alger, Colour Streams and Madeira, plus DMC stranded cotton.
It’s also a feast for anyone just enjoying the finished piece and appreciating the attention to detail Anna has included in each element. So much for the eye to find!
Perhaps having the most enjoyable feast, however, are the fuzzy buzzy bee collecting his pollen and the hungry snail on the move, advancing steadily towards her pending snack.
The perfect project to hang on the wall in your kitchen maybe?
