Depending on the temperature, humidity and other atmospheric conditions, snowflakes are comprised of an endless array of stunning geometric shapes, ranging from simple hexagonal crystals to elaborate dendritic structures.

Inspired by their beauty and natural wonder, Polish designer Joanna Jakuszewska has created a divine trio of stitched snowflakes that feature in our latest release, The Handpicked Collection 3.

To help get you started on your own snowflake collection, Snowflakes is three delightful designs, perfectly balanced with the requisite six points and ably demonstrating the infinite possibilities such a shape offers.

Joanna is passionate about the traditional technique of Richelieu embroidery, an exquisite form of whitework originating in France during the 17th century.

Resembling lace, the motifs are edged with stitching and surrounded by a cut away background, held together with stitched bars.

Snowflakes is the perfect project to showcase Richelieu embroidery as it is elegant and dainty just like a real snowflake, yet able to form and hold a standalone dimensional shape at the same time.

Stitched onto white linen with stranded cotton and hanging from a twisted cord loop, when completed you will have a collection of snowflakes that you can use to hang on your Christmas tree or to decorate your house all year round.
