Embroidery Guild Exhibition 40 and Fabulous!
19TH JANUARY 2024 - ASU #410
The Ballarat Branch of The Embroiderers’ Guild, Victoria, Australia is thrilled to announce they will be holding their 40th Anniversary Exhibition in March, 2024.
Needlework royalty Alison Cole has been hard at work behind the scenes as a member of the exhibition sub-committee making it all happen, and she recently shared with us a little about what you can expect:
Casket and bobbin lace – Lyn Dehnert
‘Titled ‘40 and Fabulous!’ the exhibition showcases members’ work created over the past few years and will feature a wide range of techniques. This year, we will also feature the convenors of our special interest groups as well as the work of the members who have been completing certificate courses with the Guild at Embroidery House in Malvern.
Members are putting the finishing touches on many pieces and keeping our local framers busy!
We have two challenges for members at the exhibition – the first is the Ruby Challenge – to create a piece worked in red on calico and presented for display in a hoop, which will be presented as a wall installation.
The second challenge is the 40th Anniversary Challenge where members create something to go with the theme, which could mean that the piece is red, or that it includes an element encompassing the number 40 (forty red beads or forty chain stitches…) – we are looking forward to seeing what the entrants come up with!’
Stumpwork – Lyn Dehnert
For anyone living in Victoria or fortunate enough to be passing through while the exhibition is on (you might even want to plan a special trip!) here are the details:
9th to 11th March 2024
