Busy Bee Pincushion Kits

25TH OCTOBER 2024 - ASU #450

This time last year we were all basking in the glory of celebrating the release of Inspirations magazine issue #120, which commemorated the world’s most beautiful needlework magazine turning 30.

In what was an all-star, all-singing and all-dancing issue of the magazine, featuring eight remarkable projects, one design did become a favourite for many.

The Busy Bees Pincushion by Susan O’Connor is a stunning piece of embroidery and a masterclass in geometry all at once!

The unique shape of the pincushion is created by combining eight hexagons with six squares to form a truncated octahedron.

Essentially, it’s a similar shape to a soccer ball, only much smaller!

The wonderful thing is you end up with 13 sides to embroider on, which Susan uses to great effect by strategically placing seven stitched bees and French knot pollen throughout.

The detail and beauty of these bees is magnificent – if there was such a thing as high-definition needlework, this would be it!

We tell you all this because our kit team have just released a limited number of Busy Bee Pincushion kits, and it was just too exciting to keep it a secret.

Frantic clicking starts now… and we do apologise in advance if you miss out on purchasing a kit.
