Twinkle Toes by Noriko Livingstone

There’s a clever little marketing secret often used by companies to help make their products more enticing.
The trick is to simply make a miniature or a gigantic version of whatever it is they are selling.
Today we’re taking a moment to gush over one of the most adorable pair of baby shoes you’ve ever seen.
Twinkle Toes by Japanese designer Noriko Livingstone is proof that by making a miniature version of something, the cute factor shoots sky high.
Noriko has done a superb job of creating these divine tiny shoes that each measure 11cm x 6cm wide (4 ⅜" x 2 ⅜").
Worked onto navy linen with a rainbow of stranded cotton threads and lined with soft, antique mauve linen, each shoe ties at the top with two, rich burgundy velvet ribbons.
For the motifs, it’s no surprise that Noriko adorns each shoe with an enchanting cascade of embroidered blossoms.
Noriko, an acclaimed embroidery artist renowned for her intricate, nature-based designs, often draws inspiration from her surroundings, including gardens and mountainous landscapes, reflecting her deep connection to the natural world.
As a result, Twinkle Toes features a delicate array of daisies, violets, berries and tiny bell flowers that dance around the toes, interspersed with twining stems and bright green leaves.
Once you’ve completed the embroidery, detailed construction information is provided to construct the shoe upper, soles and final assembly.
This is such a gorgeous project - we instantly fell in love with it the moment we opened the tiny shoe box it arrived in.
We’re often talking about finding creative ways and different applications to apply our needlework skills and this is certainly one of them.
How fun and unique is it to create a pair of embroidered shoes for a little bambino?
Even the name perfectly suits the design.
In fact, these tiny shoes are so cute, maybe we can stitch a pair and just use them to decorate our home? If anyone asks whose shoes they are, we can simply reply ‘they belong to Twinkle Toes!’
