On one hand it could be said that Laurence Lieblich is a quiet achiever.
In 2006 she moved to Nyon, a town on the shores of Lake Geneva in Switzerland, where an opportunity arose to take over an embroidery studio. From there, Canevas Folies was born.
Since then, Laurence has gone from strength to strength as a designer, teacher and embroiderer.
On the other hand, it could be said that her designs are often anything but quiet!
Combining a magnificent array of colours with a selection of different stitches and design elements bursting with detail, Laurence’s work is a delight for the senses.
Her latest project, A Peaceful Moment from The Handpicked Collection 3, features all the Laurence Lieblich fervour and design intensity that we’ve come to love from her pieces, yet somehow as the title suggest, this project has a slightly more calm and serene aura.
A charming dove sits quietly in the bottom left of the frame encircled by a selection of pretty, colourful flowers worked with a palette that is more subtle and slightly more pastel.
Yet, it’s still brimming with eye catching hues that have been perfectly selected from the Au Ver à Soie, Soie d’Alger range and House of Embroidery silks and cottons.
Worked using surface embroidery onto a background of ivory linen, Laurence has done a superb job of combining some of her trademark dynamic floral emblems in such a way that A Peaceful Moment has a wonderful innocence and sense of calm about it.
The finished design measures 20cm (8″) square and this delightful scene is sure to bring a little peace to all who see it.
