What Are You Stitching?

Cristina Casoli

‘Here is a project I carried out over many months, first with the planning, then with the procurement of materials, finally with the execution.’

‘There are 26 cubes embroidered on all faces, inspired by a Dots Dots scheme!’

Cristina, your cubes are so beautiful! The longer we look at them, the more charming details we can spot. What a monumental project!

Yolande Croucher

‘This is a piece of crewel embroidery called Masterpiece by Hazel Blomkamp. I have put it onto a piano stool and made it into a sewing box beside my chair.’

‘It’s from Crewelwork Inspiration. I think crewel work is my niche in embroidery, I just love it. Thank you for the Inspirations magazines.’

The piano stool is such a lovely way to display this wonderful design and your incredible stitches, Yolande! Anything that doubles as a sewing box is a winner in our book, thank you for sharing.

Monica Zerpa

‘My stitching goes back all the way to my childhood when I was introduced to embroidery by my nun teachers, who ran a girls only elementary school. There, I discovered not just embroidery, but many other types of crafts. Stitching however, always kept a special place in my heart. Recently, I discovered goldwork, and I soon realised it was a one-way ticket.’

‘Ever since I saw this project from Natalie Dupuis, I was drawn to it, but I felt intimidated and unsure of my skills.

Some of my fellow stitchers from my embroidery community who have stitched the project, encouraged me to do it. I'm glad I did!

I am someone who likes step-by-step instructions. This project comes with plenty of them but at the same time, the design allows for the stitcher’s artistic freedom. I used the materials I already had and switched minor details from the original project to adapt to my own taste and skills.’

‘I was very pleased with the result, and it’s now being framed. It will be a present for my husband for his upcoming birthday, he has always liked Vincent van Gogh’s work.’

Monica, we love that you challenged yourself with this project and can now reap the rewards of your magnificent stitches! You should be very proud of your work. We love it, and we’re sure your husband will too.

Have you stitched a collection of alphabet pieces? Do you have a project that doubles as a sewing box? Or have you challenged yourself with a new technique?

Whatever you are stitching, we’d love to see it! Email photos of what you’ve created with needle and thread along with a few details about your stitching journey to news@inspirationsstudios.com
